What an exciting start to our school day on Wednesday 23rd September! Our classrooms showed evidence of being raided and items were missing. The children worked in pairs to identify which items were missing from Chelt classroom. They then explained why each item was important to them, for example if a child’s wallet was missing they couldn’t do their work without pens and pencils. It was also great to note that many children felt that the most important item was our Gems and could explain why they felt they were important to us all. The children developed their investigative skills as the day went on. They developed their speaking and listening skills as they discussed their findings with enthusiasm.
The next activity was a time- line to show the chronology and to introduce our History topic Awesome Egyptians. When the children returned to their classrooms they had images of artefacts that had been raided from Egyptians tombs. In pairs they had to investigate, using the clues given, to match the artefacts to the person they belonged to.
The children were amazing and really entered into the ‘spirit’ of the day….. Even when they realised it had all been pretend! Well done CHELT.
